Alpine National Park
July 28, 2015On Sunday myself, Shannaya (@shannnaya) and Jarrod (@Jarrodhydephotography) went on a snow hunt! We ended up in the Alpine National Park after driving along the worst corrugated roads ever!! Finally finding a carpark to some hiking trail with 1.5kms to the summit we all chucked on our gear and got hiking.
It started to snow pretty heavily whilst we trekked up the mountain and eventually the so called track became invisible in the white wonderland. We tried to look for the track in all directions even back tracking a little to see if we missed a turn. But out of three of us we had absolute no idea which way to go, so I made the call to just hike straight up! In the distance we could see some rocks with crazy icicles so that was our final destination. After scrambling up the remaining distance of the mountain in knee deep snow, we finally got to the rocks/cliffs and started shooting!
Seeing icicles this big was epic and a little scary!
Looking for some good compositions isn’t always easy! In this case, it meant basically lying down in the snow! (also, I really need to buy some better gloves!!)
With passing snow showers we were unsure if sunset was going to show much colour. But it sure did put on a show in its final efforts!
And then this happened…
